The college currently hosts the following doctoral programs: a secondary doctoral program under the national“Double First-Class”discipline“Forestry Engineering”titled“Forestry Equipment and Informatization”; a secondary doctoral program under the first-level discipline“Biology”titled“Bioinformatics”; and a secondary doctoral program under the first-level discipline“Mechanical Engineering”titled“Intelligent Detection and Instrumentation”.The college also offers two first-level master’s disciplines:“Control Science and Engineering”and“Computer Science and Technology”. Under the professional degree program in Electronic Information, four specialized fields are included: 1) New-Generation Electronic Information Technology (including Quantum Technology), 2) Computer Technology, 3) Software Engineering, and 4) Control Engineering. Additionally, the professional master’s program in Agriculture includes the specialized field of“Agricultural Engineering and Information Technology.”
Over the years, the college has continuously refined and expanded its disciplinary focus, gradually developing distinctive research directions such as Biological Big Data Technology, Spatial Remote Sensing and Intelligent Computing,Forest Biomass Identification and Monitoring,Intelligent Forestry Equipment,Smart Power Grids,Natural Language Processing, and Optoelectronic Information Technology.These areas highlight the college’s interdisciplinary strengths and alignment with cutting-edge technological advancements.
The college operates three provincial/ministerial-level research platforms: the National Forestry Key Laboratory of Forestry Big Data and Cloud Computing, the Heilongjiang Provincial Engineering Research Center for Forestry Intelligent Equipment, and the Heilongjiang Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Forestry Big Data Storage and High-Performance (Cloud) Computing. Additionally, it houses the Northeast Forestry University Digital Resources Industry Research Institute. The college maintains 35 specialized laboratories for undergraduate courses and 12 innovation laboratories, with a total laboratory area exceeding 4,500 square meters and total equipment assets valued at over 60 million CNY.
Aligned with significant national demands and forestry industry applications, faculty members have undertaken over 70 research projects in the past five years, including: National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Key R&D Program, National 863 Program, Forestry Public Welfare Special Projects, State Forestry Administration 948 Program, Key Projects of Heilongjiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Heilongjiang Provincial Key R&D Program, Heilongjiang Provincial Talent Recruitment Projects.
The college actively participates in regional economic development and highlights the application and transformation of research results. It has received 16 provincial and municipal Science and Technology Progress Awards and Scientific and Technological Achievement Awards, with total funding for all projects exceeding 140 million CNY.
The college fosters an intense academic atmosphere and has published over 1000 high-level papers over the past five years, with over 600 indexed by SCI and EI. Nearly 300 national invention patents, utility model patents, software copyrights, and other intellectual property rights have been obtained, and over 100 scientific research projects have been identified and concluded.
