The primary discipline of mathematics was established based on the original applied mathematics master's degree authorization site and was approved in 2010. It currently encompasses three secondary disciplines: applied mathematics, probability theory, mathematical statistics, and fundamental mathematics. The discipline employs 42 full-time faculty members, including three doctoral supervisors and 27 master's supervisors. The faculty consists of 8 professors, 13 associate professors, and 21 lecturers, with 76% of full-time teachers holding doctoral degrees. Research directions in applied mathematics closely follow international academic frontiers, producing influential achievements that have attracted attention from domestic and global peers. Some research areas enjoy national recognition, with two projects awarded the Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Second Prize. The probability theory and mathematical statistics discipline integrates with two "Double First-Class" disciplines in forestry and ecological/environmental engineering, demonstrating distinctive advantages in forest fire prediction, wood material testing, and stand growth research. These achievements include one Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Second Prize and funding from the National Forestry Public Welfare Industry Research Special Project. Fundamental mathematics has developed multiple stable research directions with unique characteristics, forming a mentor echelon combining middle-aged and young scholars. The discipline recruits graduate students in partial differential equations, algebra, and harmonic analysis. Recent accomplishments include over 130 high-quality publications, eight monographs, and 12 national/provincial-level research projects over five years. An academic exchange program with Shimane University, Japan, facilitates the annual exchange of one graduate student for a year-long study.
