The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Resource Utilization was established in 2019 by merging the former Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the School of Science with the Key Laboratory of Forest Plant Ecology of the Ministry of Education. The school’s motto is “knowledge, wisdom, virtue, thick foundation, and innovation.”
The school’s scientific research revolves around international academic frontiers, concentrating on key national strategies such as agroforestry and constructing ecological civilization to advance teaching and research efforts. Over the past three years, the school has undertaken more than 180 scientific research projects, both vertical and horizontal, securing total funding of over 80 million yuan. The school has published over 500 papers, authored 10 diverse works, obtained over 40 granted invention patents, and received two provincial teaching achievement awards and three scientific and technological achievement awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.
The school has a strong faculty and a reasonable structure. The school has 114faculty members, including 80 full-time teachers, 35 professors, 40 associate professors, five lecturers, 38 doctoral supervisors, and 76 master’s supervisors. Among them are 25 talents at or above the provincial level, including experts receiving special allowances from the State Council government, talents from the China Association for Science and Technology Talent Support Project, provincial outstanding youth, and Longjiang scholars (youth).
The school currently has doctoral programs in chemistry as a first-level discipline, doctoral programs in biology (plant biology) as a second-level discipline, a first-level master's program in pharmacy, and two professional master's programs in materials and chemical engineering (chemical engineering field) and pharmacy. We have one national-level platform, two research platforms from the Ministry of Education, four provincial and ministerial-level research platforms (centers), two provincial international cooperation platforms, one provincial teaching demonstration center, one university-level ecological civilization account, and one university-level grand instrument platform.
The school adheres to the educational philosophy of “inheritance, innovation, integration, and development”, practices the guiding ideology of “co-construction, sharing, progress, and win-win”, and fully implements the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents. The school attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of students and focuses on cultivating compound and innovative talents. There are currently three undergraduate programs: Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering and Technology. The school has three undergraduate programs: Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering and Technology. Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Technology are national first-class undergraduate program construction points, while Chemistry is a provincial first-class undergraduate program construction point. The Chemical Engineering and Technology program has passed the national engineering education professional certification. Over 1400 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled, with a ratio of nearly 1:1 for undergraduate students, including 131 doctoral students. More than 200 students have been awarded national, provincial, and university-level honors, and the enrollment rate for undergraduate graduates is over 50%.
