The cultivation orientation of the Design discipline/Design professional degree program is anchored in the entry points of "heritage preservation, innovation, and cultural integration," guided by the strategic concept of "design and innovation addressing social, economic, technological, and environmental transformations." Rooted in industrial contexts of furniture and integrated home systems, industrial products, and architectural interior-exterior environmental design, it synergizes national intangible cultural heritage preservation with theoretical research on wood materials and practical production technology training. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary characteristics, highlights wood culture and furniture/human habitat design features, and establishes a platform for design education. It cultivates sustainable design innovators, international and forward-looking high-end theoretical researchers, and practical design professionals.

The Design discipline primarily encompasses three research directions: Furniture and Interior Design, Product Design, and Environmental Art and Design. The professional degree program focuses on scientific research, technological development, and application in design practice fields such as furniture design and technology, product design and technology, and environmental design and technology.
