Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) focuses on the national "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" ("dual-carbon") strategic goals, bases its work on national and regional strategic development needs, integrates its distinctive resources, and leverages its disciplinary and scientific research strengths to establish a cross-disciplinary field of carbon neutrality, which has been substantively implemented in the School of Future Technologies since 2023. This field comprises three sub-disciplinary directions: forest and grassland ecological restoration and carbon sink enhancement, forest and grassland germplasm innovation and active substance utilization, and green conversion and low-carbon biomass utilization. National-level talents and industry leaders serve as the directors of these directions. A certain number of graduate students are enrolled each year through personal applications, assessments, organizational selections, and other forms.
