The International Joint Research Institute, under Hainan International College, fully leverages the strengths and specialties of Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) and its overseas partner universities to advance the development of innovation platforms jointly. These include Key Laboratories and Engineering Centers in Computer Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Biology and Advanced Materials, project alignment, collaborative research, and deep integration of industry-academia-research-education. Actively establishing diverse forms of industry-academia-research-education alliances, the institute utilizes NEFU’s disciplinary strengths and its alum enterprises in Hainan to set up Expert Workstations or Postdoctoral Workstations at eligible local institutions, providing technical support for enterprises and public organizations in Hainan Province.
The International Academic Development Center aims to enhance the teaching, research, and scientific capabilities of faculty members from NEFU and other domestic universities. Based at Hainan International College, the center invites renowned foreign academicians and influential scholars to the pilot zone, organizing annual two-week programs for approximately 100 teachers. These programs include teaching and research capacity-building lectures, teaching methodology workshops, and scientific thinking training, continuously broadening faculty members’ international perspectives and improving their competencies in education and research.
Hainan International College will provide educational, technological, and talent support for Hainan’s development as a Free Trade Port, National Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone, and International Education Innovation Island. It strives to become a centralized showcase for Sino-foreign cooperative education and a new benchmark for China’s educational openness and development in the new era.
