Historical development:

Our doctoral degree program in Landscape Architecture was adjusted in response to the requirements of the Catalogue of Disciplines and Specialties in Graduate Education (2022) of the Ministry of Education in 2022. Previously, Landscape Architecture was the first batch of doctoral degree programs in Landscape Architecture approved in 2011, a key discipline of the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau, a key discipline of Heilongjiang Province, and a high-level university and advantageous characteristic discipline of Heilongjiang Province. In 2016, Landscape Architecture was awarded a B+ grade in the national first-level discipline assessment by the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council. The corresponding master's degree program in landscape architecture was approved in 2006 and awarded a B grade in the fourth round of discipline assessment. Corresponding to the two national first-class majors of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Gardening.

Scientific research platform:

There are provincial key laboratories of germplasm resources development of landscape plants in cold areas and landscape ecological restoration, provincial teaching demonstration center of gardening, National Forestry and Grassland Engineering and Technology Research Center of Functional Grass in Cold Areas, National Scenic Landscape Architecture Science and Technology Educational Base, National Skill Master Workshop, Heilongjiang Province Intangible Cultural Heritage Educational Base, and other provincial and ministerial-level scientific research and teaching platforms.

Faculty strength:

There are 18 doctoral supervisors and 31 master’s supervisors, and many of them serve on the Committee of Landscape Architecture, the Committee of Landscape Architecture Teaching Instruction, the Society of Landscape Architecture, the Grass Society, and other institutions. They also serve as editorial board members in Chinese gardens, landscape architecture, forestry research journals, and other journals.

Professional Degree Fields:

The professional degree of Landscape Architecture is divided into four fields: landscape architecture planning and design, germplasm resource collection and application of ornamental plants in cold landscapes, ecological evaluation and ecological restoration technology of cold landscapes environment, and urban and rural environmental renewal and protection of regional cultural heritage. The employment rate of graduate students reaches over 95%.

Scientific Research Achievements:

Five awards above the ministerial and provincial levels, the 1 second prize for national excellent teaching achievements, 1 second prize of the Ministry of Education Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (Science and Technology), more than 50 vertical projects approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Special Project on Major Biotechnology, the National High-Tech Development Program, the Ministry of Science and Technology special projects, the 14th Five-Year Plan Key Research and Development Young Scientist Project, etc., and more than 100 landscape architecture planning and design, social service projects and counterpart poverty alleviation projects, in the formation of distinctive advantages and characteristics. More than 500 papers have been published in SCI, CSCD, EI, national Chinese core journals, and above-level journals.

Social Service:

More than 50 cooperation agreements have been signed with well-known enterprises and research institutes. We have also cooperated with local governments to carry out multi-faceted technical service projects.

International Exchange:

Actively exploring internationalization to run schools, with 54% of teachers with overseas backgrounds and 13 international students accepted. We have maintained good cooperative relationships with schools and scientific research organizations such as the University of Western Australia, St. Petersburg State Forestry University, University of Auckland, Chiba University, University of Montreal, National Science Center of Nikitsky Botanical Garden in Russia, and the International Network for Global Urban Biodiversity and Design Organization (URBIO), and have formed a certain degree of international influence.

Based on the cold landscapes, serving the local economy, and helping to improve the quality of a high-quality human environment, it has significantly contributed to the construction of a beautiful China, the construction of ecological civilization, and the rural revitalization strategy.
