I. Program Overview

This program originated from the "Microcomputer Applications" specialty established in 1988. It successfully applied to establish the "Computer Science and Technology" undergraduate program in 1995 and began cultivating undergraduates in the same year. In 2000, the "Computer Application Technology" master's program was approved. During the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the Computer Science and Technology program was designated a Heilongjiang Province Key Specialty Construction Site and a Leading Specialty at Northeast Forestry University. In 2011, it was approved as a Heilongjiang Province "12th Five-Year Plan" Key Specialty Construction Site. The program became a Ministry of Education Comprehensive Reform Pilot Specialty in 2015. It passed the Engineering Education Professional Certification in 2019, was recognized as a Heilongjiang Province First-Class Specialty Construction Site in the same year, and was designated a National First-Class Undergraduate Specialty Construction Site in 2020.

II. Educational Objectives

Implement the Party's educational policies, adhere to moral education and cultivating talents, and orient towards the needs of national economic development—particularly the socio-economic development of regional societies and the requirements for informatization and intelligent construction in the national agricultural and forestry sectors. The program aims to cultivate builders and successors of socialism who can comprehensively apply mathematics, natural sciences, and computer-related theories, as well as modern development technologies and tools, to analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges in computer systems and intelligent agricultural/forestry development. Graduates will demonstrate research and innovation capabilities in practical engineering, interdisciplinary integration competencies, team collaboration skills, and an international perspective. They will become high-level engineering technical talents capable of guiding scientific research, engineering design and development, and technical management in computer software/hardware systems and agricultural/forestry intelligence. Additionally, they will possess the capacity for further academic advancement and sustainable development.

4: Characteristic advantages

Feature I: The Computer Science and Technology program is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Comprehensive Reform Pilot Program for Undergraduate Majors, a Key Specialty in Heilongjiang Province, and a National First-Class Undergraduate Major. Accredited in 2019 by the China Engineering Education Accreditation, it provides students with an internationally recognized "passport" for global career development. The program is authorized to grant degrees such as a Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Engineering, Professional Master’s, and Doctoral Degree (Forestry Information Engineering).

Feature 2: Distinguished Faculty Strength

The institution boasts a strong faculty profile. Nearly 40% of teachers have overseas study experience, equipping them with international perspectives to enhance students' global competencies. Many faculty members hold senior professional titles, and 80% possess doctoral degrees, reflecting exceptional academic standards and a rigorous scholarly ethos. The faculty includes 17 master's supervisors and 5 PhD supervisors.

The institution showcases strong research capabilities, ample funding, and prolific academic output. It has secured five provincial-level teaching reform projects, two provincial-level first-class high-quality courses, and 10 university-level key courses. Faculty members have received 4 Northeast Forestry University Teaching Quality First Prizes and 10 Second Prizes. Additionally, the institution has 2 university-level distinguished teaching awardees and 2 faculty members recognized as "Ethics Advanced Individuals" in Heilongjiang Province's higher education sector.

Feature 3: The institution boasts comprehensive experimental teaching facilities, including 1 Key Laboratory under the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, 2 Heilongjiang Provincial Engineering Centers, and two university-enterprise co-constructed internship bases. On-campus resources encompass a practical training teaching center, an undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship practice base, and specialized course laboratories. Dedicated research platforms for student innovation include: ACM Laboratory, Humanoid Robotics Laboratory, Computer Software Innovation Laboratory, iCAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Laboratory, Embedded Systems and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Biological Big Data Innovation Laboratory, and Artificial Intelligence Application Innovation Laboratory.

Feature 4: The institution fosters a thriving atmosphere for student scientific research and competition participation. Over the past three years, students have achieved abundant results in disciplinary competitions. Specifically:

In 2020, they secured 1 gold medal, 11 national-level second prizes, and 8 third prizes in competitions, including the National Robot Championship, China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition, Blue Bridge Cup National Competition, National Programming Ladder Competition, and China Undergraduate Computer Design Competition.

In 2019, they attained 3 national-level first prizes and 10 second prizes in events such as the National University Big Data Application Innovation Competition (Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Creativity Contest), National Robot Championship, and Blue Bridge Cup Software Design Competition.

In 2018, they garnered a total of 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 3 third prizes, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals in competitions including the China Collegiate Programming Contest, ACM National Programming Invitational Contest, National Robot Championship, and Blue Bridge Cup National Software Design Competition.

Additionally, in September 2019, the institution ranked among the top 30 in the national CCF CSP certification for the first time.

Feature 5: Selection of outstanding students for recommendation to pursue Master's programs at "985" or "211" universities without entrance examinations; Implementation of international collaborative talent cultivation through multiple channels, with annual dispatch of academically exceptional undergraduates for overseas studies via joint programs with prestigious universities such as those in the United States and Australia.
