The Department of Electronic and Information Engineering was founded in 1989 to specialize in applied electronics. In 1999, the Electronic Information Engineering major was established based on the original major, which became the key major of Northeast Forestry University in 2016 and was approved as the first-class major of Heilongjiang Province in 2022. In 2016, it was approved as a master’s degree in “Electronic and Communication Engineering”; in 2018, it was approved as a master’s degree in “Information and Communication Engineering”, with a second-level doctoral degree authorization in forestry informatization. It enrolls 90 undergraduates and 15 postgraduate students annually.

The Department of Electronic Information Engineering has 17 teachers, including two professors, nine associate professors, and one senior engineer. Twelve have a doctor’s degree. There are also one doctoral supervisor, 13 master’s supervisors, and seven teachers with overseas study or visiting experience.

High scientific research and sufficient research conditions guarantee personnel training in the Department of Electronic Information Engineering. They have published over 300 papers, including over 100 SCI/EI papers, and obtained over 20 intellectual property rights such as invention patents. He has received 30 scientific research awards. The Department of Electronic Information Engineering has formed relatively stable research directions such as signal processing, photoelectric detection, artificial intelligence, and digital forestry.

Abundant extra-curricular learning space and abundant extra-curricular training activities are the cradle for training top talents in the Department of Electronic Information Engineering. At present, there are two university student innovation laboratories with a total area of more than 300 square meters, and students have won many excellent achievements in international and domestic competitions such as National University Student Electronic Design Competition, intelligent car Competition, National University Student Intelligent Internet Innovation Competition, National University Student Mathematical Modeling, and American University Student mathematical modeling. In the past five years, it has won 30 national student science and technology competition awards; The provincial student science and technology competition has won 117 prizes, and the Ministry of Education has more than 40 innovative training projects for university students.
