I. Program Overview

The program was established in 1976. It was successively recognized as a “Heilongjiang Provincial Key Program” during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2006) and Twelfth Five-Year Plan (2011). In 2016, the Ministry of Education approved it as a “Comprehensive Reform Pilot Undergraduate Program” and became the university’s first engineering specialty to pass the Engineering Education Professional Certification. It passed the recertification in 2018 and was designated as a “National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Site” in 2021. Building on the Double First-Class Discipline of Forestry Engineering and the Doctoral Program in Forestry Engineering Automation, the specialty adheres to the mission of fostering virtue and cultivating talents. Guided by the New Engineering Education initiative and driven by the Engineering Education Professional Certification, it has developed an innovative talent cultivation model. This model emphasizes broad-based platform courses, specialized courses with distinctive features, and enterprise-oriented practical training centered on student learning. It prioritizes respecting students’ aspirations and motivating their "academic drive" to achieve educational excellence.

II. Educational Objectives

The program aims to cultivate application-oriented technical and management talents who possess strong humanistic and scientific literacy, a sense of social responsibility, and professional ethics; a broad foundation in natural sciences, solid expertise in automation, and essential skills; as well as capabilities in engineering practice, problem-solving for complex engineering issues, and team management. Graduates of this program are expected to become engineers in the field of automation within approximately five years after graduation. They will be equipped to undertake engineering design, technological development, and engineering management in automation-related fields, evolving into technical or managerial professionals within their respective organizations in related domains.
