The Russian program was established in 1990, initially enrolling students for a two-year associate degree, and began offering undergraduate programs in 2003. By 2024, the program had enrolled over 1,000 undergraduate students and had graduated more than 900 students with associate and bachelor’s degrees in Russian. In 2007, the program was approved to offer a master’s program in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, and in 2012, it began recruiting students for a Master of Russian Language and Literature. To date, over 60 master’s students have been trained. In 2022, a Master's program in Russian Translation and Interpretation was established, with an average annual enrollment of 10 students. In 2021, the program was approved as a First-Class Program in Heilongjiang Province.

The Russian program is fundamentally focused on cultivating moral character and values. It aims to develop students with good overall qualities and a solid foundation in the Russian language while also equipping them with knowledge in related fields. The program prepares students to contribute to local development, adapt to the country’s economic and social progress, and become versatile Russian-speaking professionals capable of working in translation, teaching, management, and research in foreign trade, diplomacy, education, and China-Russia forestry cooperation.

The program also embraces internationalization, with partnerships with Moscow State Forestry University, Ural State Forest Engineering University, and Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service. More than 70% of third-year students are offered opportunities to study in Russia, significantly improving their chances of international employment.
