The College of Foreign Languages launched the Japanese program in 2001 and began recruiting undergraduate students in the same year, with an average of 50 students enrolled annually. The program lasts four years, and students are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree upon completion.
The Japanese program aims to cultivate students with comprehensive qualities, a sense of national responsibility, and an understanding of ecological civilization. It provides students with a solid foundation in the Japanese language, professional knowledge, and cross-cultural communication skills. Graduates are prepared to work in various roles, including translation, teaching, research, and management, as well as in foreign exchange, culture, education, research, trade, and forestry.
Each year, nearly 10% to 20% of students are recommended to pursue master’s programs without the need for exams. Exceptional students are selected to study at renowned Japanese universities, such as Waseda University and Shimane University, for short-term exchanges or long-term study abroad.
