Biological Science Program

DATE:2025-04-28AUTHOR: VIEW:

The Biological Science program offers three majors: Biological Science (recognized as a National Training Base for Fundamental Research and Teaching Excellence in the Sciences), Biotechnology (identified as a National Training Base for Life Sciences and Technology Talent), and Biotechnology. Students are admitted through a broad-based enrollment system and undergo interdisciplinary training during the initial three semesters. Students are assigned to specific majors in the fourth semester based on individual interests, academic performance, and program capacity. Specialized study begins in the fifth semester. The program is completed over four years and culminates in the conferment of a Bachelor of Science degree. Outstanding students may be granted direct admission to master’s programs without the requirement of entrance examinations, offering a streamlined pathway for academic advancement.

Program Overview

1. Biological Science (National Training Base for Fundamental Scientific Research and Teaching Talent)

(1) Program Overview

The Biological Science program is designated as a National Training Base for cultivating talent in fundamental scientific research and education. With a mission to address significant national needs, the program is dedicated to developing innovative biological science professionals with a “forestry-oriented” specialization. Graduates are expected to be key in driving technological advancement and original innovation in forestry, agriculture, and related fields. Emphasizing holistic education as a core element of its academic development, the program offers a four-year curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. Outstanding students are eligible for direct admission to master’s and doctoral programs without entrance examinations. The discipline is authorized to confer both master's and doctoral degrees.

(2) Training Objectives

This program is committed to fostering well-rounded individuals who demonstrate excellence in moral character, scientific and humanistic literacy, and physical, aesthetic, and practical competencies. Students will acquire a broad foundation in the natural sciences and systematic and rigorous training in the fundamental theories and essential skills of biological sciences. Graduates will possess strong potential for further academic pursuits at the master’s and doctoral levels. With a spirit of innovation and leadership, they will be well-prepared to engage in scientific research, technological development, education, and management within the biological sciences and related areas.
