Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Cold Region Road Transportation Technology

Overview

The Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Cold Region Road Transportation Technology is affiliated with Northeast Forestry University. It was proposed by the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering (formerly the College of Transportation). It was among the first batch of provincial key laboratories approved by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology in February 2017. Focusing closely on technical challenges in cold region road transportation engineering, the laboratory centers its research on two main areas: Road Transportation System Planning and Safety Assurance Technologies, and Low-Carbon Application Technologies for Road Transportation Vehicles. Key research topics include analyzing and simulating the reconstruction of traffic accidents in cold regions, planning and designing road transportation systems, and electrification technologies for road vehicles. The laboratory aims to support the cultivation of high-level talents in transportation engineering, serve the strategic needs of building a strong transportation nation and societal development, enhance China’s research capabilities in cold region transportation, improve management and safety standards, promote low-carbon development in the transportation industry, facilitate the industrialization of research outcomes, and provide robust technological support for the revitalization of Heilongjiang Province’s old industrial base.

The laboratory has shown strong development momentum, receiving the Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Base Award in 2019 and 2022. The research team comprises 39 full-time scientific personnel, 31 with senior professional titles, and 35 with doctoral degrees. The laboratory covers an area of 2,500 square meters and is equipped with 1,150 sets of instruments and equipment valued at approximately 26.65 million RMB. Facilities include a six-degree-of-freedom driving simulator and a state-of-the-art Intelligent Traffic Management Comprehensive Experimental Platform, featuring advanced technology and reliable performance.

Since its establishment, the laboratory has undertaken more than 100 horizontal and vertical research projects, with total project funding exceeding 25 million RMB. Researchers have published over 120 academic papers, including 32 indexed by SCI and 31 indexed by EI, and have been granted more than 50 patents, including 11 invention patents.
