I. General Descriptions
The advertising program was set in 2002 as one of the key construction disciplines at NEFU. It is also the advertising talent education and training base of Heilongjiang Province and one of the advertising programs with the most extended history, precise planning, and outstanding practical results. The program is responsible for developing creative talents for advertising planning and initiates the practice-oriented and public service-oriented talent quality training model. In 2013, the college established the Heilongjiang Province Public Service Advertising Research Base in collaboration with the Administration for Market Regulation of Heilongjiang Province (formerly Heilongjiang Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce) as the first provincial public service advertising research base nationwide. In 2019, the college established the Heilongjiang Province Advertising Industry Development Research Center in collaboration with the Administration for Market Regulation of Heilongjiang Province to promote talent training integrating production, learning, research, and application into a whole.
Now, this program has 15 full-time teachers, including two professors, eight associate professors, four lecturers, and one teaching assistant. In addition, the communication theory and practice teaching and research section, the advertising regulation teaching and research section, the new media communication teaching and research section, and the advertising culture teaching and research section are available. Many teachers have been invited as the judges of China IAI Annual Awards, Times Awards, Times Young Creative Awards, provincial advertising competitions, and National College Student Advertising Art Competition. 2 teachers have been honored as “Outstanding Advertising Experts of Heilongjiang Province”.
II. Training Objectives
This program is designed to develop the applied talents who have specific cultural knowledge, innovation ability and comprehensive advertising practical operation, systematically grasp marketing communication theories and professional knowledge, set clear occupational objectives and humanistic aspirations of serving the society and the public, and engage in advertising planning and creativity, advertising operation and management, advertising design and production in specialized advertising companies, advertising departments of media and large enterprises, and cultural institutions in the context of advertising style innovation under the new marketing environment and the fusion with other forms of communications.
III. Core Courses
Core basic courses:Introduction to Advertising, Advertising History, Marketing, Communication Studies, Cultural Classics, and Introduction to Literature and Art.
Core professional courses:Copywriting for Advertising, Advertising Creativity, Advertising Planning, Brand Communication, Public Service Advertising, and New Media Advertising
Practical teaching components:Practical training and practical courses, integrated advertising practice (I and II), graduation practice, and graduation thesis (design).
IV. Characteristic Advantages
Feature 1:“Practice-oriented” comprehensive quality training. Help students develop cultural deposit, professional quality, and practical ability. This program offers three parts of courses: literature courses, professional courses, and practice. Steady progress has been made in the overall quality of students. The students from this program have won more than 600 awards in discipline competitions above the provincial level. In addition, they have won the organization award of the National College Student Advertising Competition and the best organization award of the Provincial Public Service Advertising Competition many times. As a key professional association, the NEFU Advertising Association has held ten consecutive Advertising Creativity Culture Festivals and received praise from all the students, teachers, and industry associations.
Feature 2:Be “public service-oriented” to develop characteristic talents. Since its establishment in 2002, the program has started the coursePublic Service Advertising. While adjusting the training program in recent years, the college has gradually increased the proportion of course hours and set up relevant supporting courses. The college established the Heilongjiang Province Public Service Advertising Research Base in collaboration with the Administration for Market Regulation of Heilongjiang Province and provided more support for the research base. It has also set up a special fund to develop the public service advertising industry and created a library of excellent public service advertising works, helping all the students and teachers with the academic research and practical application of public service advertising.
Feature 3:Be “industry demand-oriented” to enhance the influence of this program. Furthermore, it has organized the campus tour of Times Young Creative Awards in Heilongjiang Province from 2013 to 2021 and Heilongjiang Province Public Service Advertising Competition from 2011 to 2022, created the public service advertising website and advertising industry data platform of Heilongjiang Province and undertaken the advertising industry development research of Heilongjiang Province and other research subjects. Some media outlets, such as Heilongjiang Daily, Life Newspaper, and Xinhua Net, have closely followed and reported on the development of this program.
